Every property reviewed in Veil Reviews is assessed using The Veil Standard — a five-pillar scoring methodology developed to evaluate luxury hospitality with consistency and transparency.

The Five Pillars

1. Arrival & First Impression (20%) — Approach, welcome, physical entry, first moments
2. Service Consistency (25%) — Staff knowledge, attentiveness, recovery from errors
3. Product Quality (30%) — Food, wine, rooms, spa — the core deliverable
4. Atmosphere & Design (15%) — Architecture, interiors, ambience, sensory environment
5. Value Relative to Category (10%) — Price-to-experience ratio within the property's tier

Veil Tier Designations

• Veil Recognized (✦) — Quality above its category; worth visiting. Score 7–12.
• Veil Distinguished (✦✦) — Exceptional in multiple pillars; destination-worthy. Score 13–18.
• Veil Exceptional (✦✦✦) — Among BC's finest; a benchmark property. Score 19–25.
